Shipping policy

Straub’s Markets ships our signature items—including USDA Prime Steaks, Miss Hulling’s Cakes, and our World Famous Chicken Salad—to addresses within the contiguous United States.

Please Note: We cannot ship perishable items to P.O. Boxes or APO/FPO addresses. A valid street address is required.

Local Courier Delivery (St. Louis Area)

For customers within our local St. Louis delivery radius, we offer a specialized courier service.

  • Delivery Date: Your order will be delivered on the Arrival Date you select during checkout.
  • No Tracking Numbers: Unlike nationwide shipping, local courier deliveries do not generate a tracking number. Your order will be delivered by a local driver on your chosen day.
  • Packaging: Local orders are packed for immediate delivery. While we ensure items stay cool during transit, please ensure someone is available to bring perishables inside promptly.
  • Other Local Options: For standard grocery delivery, please order via Instacart. For catering-specific orders, please visit our Catering Website.

Nationwide Shipping Schedule & Processing

To ensure the highest quality and freshness, we operate on a strict shipping schedule to prevent perishable items from sitting in transit over the weekend.

  • Ship Date: For nationwide orders, the date you select at checkout is your Ship Date (the day it leaves our facility), not the arrival date.
  • Standard Shipping Days: We ship perishable orders Monday through Thursday.
  • Order Cutoff: Orders placed after 12:00 PM CST on Thursday will typically be held and shipped the following Monday.
  • Non-Perishable Items: Orders containing only shelf-stable items may ship later in the week, but if your order contains any perishable item, the entire order will ship according to the perishable schedule.

Packaging & Freshness

We take extraordinary care to ensure your product arrives in perfect condition.

  • Perishables: Meat, poultry, prepared foods, and cakes are packed in insulated coolers with dry ice or frozen gel packs to maintain a safe temperature during transit.
  • Receipt: Please unpack your items and refrigerate or freeze them immediately upon arrival.

Shipping Rates

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on the weight of your package, the destination, and the shipping speed selected (e.g., FedEx Overnight, 2-Day). Because our packaging requires heavy insulation and ice, shipping costs may reflect the extra care required to keep your food safe.

Tracking Your Order (Nationwide Only)

Once your nationwide order has been packed and handed off to our carrier (FedEx/UPS), you will receive a shipment confirmation email containing your tracking number. Please monitor this tracking closely to ensure someone is available to receive the package.

Damaged or Delayed Shipments

While we do everything in our power to ensure timely delivery, Straub’s cannot be held responsible for delays caused by weather, carrier mechanical failures, or incorrect addresses provided by the customer.

  • Incorrect Addresses: Please double-check your shipping address. We cannot offer refunds for spoilage if the package is undeliverable due to an incorrect address or if the package is left unattended for an extended period.
  • Issues: If your package arrives damaged or spoiled due to a carrier delay, please contact us immediately at onlinemarket@straubs.com so we can work with you to resolve it.
