Samantha Schmid – The Republic of Tea - An American proverb states that variety is the spice of life, and The Republic of Tea has a tea variety, including spiced, for every mood and in every season. In the spring, you can enjoy a bright and lively tea to lift you out of winter’s cold clutches. Ice up a wide variety of tea in the hot days of summer, and then slip into fall with many spicy, harvest blends that shake off the crisp chill in the air. In the winter, there is plenty to choose that will lift your spirits and warm you up. There is also enough variety to change up your day and add interest and flavor adventure. Start your day off with a stronger black tea and throughout the day change to a variety of herbal teas or super healthy, super fruit wellness teas.
Whether it is their Wellness tea line, or their Fair trade, Rainforest Alliance, Children’s or Seasonal tea blends, The Republic of Tea has something for everyone! The Ginger Peach is terrific and the favorite of many, but the milk oolong is phenomenal and should be a staple in your variety of tea you keep on hand.
Mike Bossi – Ortiz Tuna – Tuna pole and line fishing uses hand-held poles to catch the fish. When fishermen find a tuna school, they will use a form of bait to coax the fish to the surface and begin fishing from the boat. When the fish bite, the fishermen will manually bring them out of the water and release them on the boat before quickly returning to the water to continue fishing. This type of tuna fishing targets only the tuna and results in the least amount of “by catch,” which can include turtles, swordfish, sharks and dolphins. Pole fishing is the most environmentally sustainable method for catching tuna and is used by Ortiz to pack the most meaty, flavorful tuna available in our stores. Accompanied by some rustic crackers, this is one of my favorite lunches!

Debbie Burns – Unique Pretzels – Since the late 1800′s, the Spannuth family has been baking the best pretzels in Pennsylvania. They are most know for their original split pretzels, but have recently created a truly unique new product that is one of my favorite snacks. They have a rich caramel color and crunchy texture and are hollow which gives them a great crunch. The pretzel shell delivers more pretzel flavor with fewer calories to fill you up.
Tim Hollenbach – Savannah Bee Tupelo Honey – Tupelo Honey is the gold standard by which all other honeys are measured. For two weeks every spring, White Tupelo Trees bloom in the Southeastern swamps with fine sunburst-shaped flowers that glisten with nectar. Once the supply is gone for the year, you have to wait until the following spring for the next harvest, making Tupelo a tight commodity in late winter. Savannah Bee Company Tupelo Honey has buttery undertones and mellow, clean-finishing sweetness like a thick, slow-moving river of liquid sunshine. Tupelo Honey complements a variety of foods but is exceptional on cheeses, like aged Parmigiano Reggiano, Greek yogurt or paired with pistachios over vanilla bean ice cream. Kosher Certified, Tupelo honey is famous for not granulating or crystallizing. The 20 oz bottle makes a great addition to any table or kitchen counter.
Trip Straub – Marcona Almonds – Spanish Marcona almonds are known as the “Queen of Almonds” and are popular with chefs and foodies alike. They are shorter, rounder, softer, and sweeter than the California variety and their superior taste and delicate texture come from their higher fat content. Though they are higher in fat, they contain the same health benefits as other almonds including monounsaturated fats that reduce cholesterol. Marcona almonds are most often roasted in olive oil and sprinkled with sea salt. Use Marcona almonds in salads, served with fruit or cheese or as a delicious snack.
