Meet the Builders of the Gateway Arch

Venue: Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (Gateway Arch)

Come meet the men who built the Gateway Arch. Hear their stories, get their autographs, and examine artifacts from the construction of one of America’s greatest monuments. 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

 

First Fridays in Grand Center

Date: Friday, November 1, 2013

Venue: Grand Center District

Discover Grand Center’s remarkable array of visual arts at eight venues within walking distance of each other. Participating venues include Bruno David Gallery, Craft Alliance, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Portfolio Gallery, The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, The Sheldon Art Galleries and on the Saint Louis University campus The Museum of Contemporary Religious Art and Saint Louis University Museum of Art. The museums and galleries are free and open until 9:00 p.m.

 

Owls and Orchids

Date: Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Venue: Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House

Throughout the entire month of October, the Conservatory at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House will be full of eyes—eyespots that is. Visit the Butterfly House during the month of October for the annual Owls and Orchids event, when the Butterfly House expands its collection of Owl Butterflies from 100 to over 1,000 creatures – more than ten times the normal number! In addition, the conservatory will be decorated with over 100 colorful, blooming orchids

 

St. Louis Symphony Live at Powell Hall Concert: Fantasia

Date: Friday, November 1, 2013 until Sunday, November 3, 2013

Venue: Powell Symphony Hall in Grand Center

Rekindle your childhood wonder with selections from two of Disney’s most imaginative films on the big screen at Powell Hall. With live accompaniment by the St. Louis Symphony, the groundbreaking marriage of classical music and animation is brought to life in a brilliant performance combining selections from Fantasia and Fantasia 2000. Dress as your favorite Disney character and enter the costume contest.

 

St. Louis Symphony Live at Powell Hall Concert: The King: A Tribute to the Music of Elvis

Venue: Powell Symphony Hall in Grand Center

The St. Louis Symphony recreates legendary songs by the King of Rock and Roll’s chart-topping hits, such as “Don’t Be Cruel”, “Jailhouse Rock”, “Suspicious Minds” and “All Shook Up” in this tribute to one of the greatest musical icons that ever lived.

This film festival showcases the very best in cutting-edge features and shorts from around the globe. The majority of the more than 400+ films screened – many of them critically lauded award-winners – will receive their only St. Louis exposure at the festival
