Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2012 will arrive in stores Thursday, November 15th.
Offer this lovely wine at your seasonal gatherings! Deliciously fruity, clean-tasting and hearty, this red wine originates in the Beaujolais region of France. Made from handpicked Gamay grapes, Beaujolais Nouveau tastes best slightly chilled and fresh from the vineyard. Compared to regular Beaujolais, this variety is much lighter, low in tannins, high in acid, and boasts a hint of strawberry.
Due to its light flavor, Beaujolais is usually considered a cross-over wine. It is often treated like a white wine, but paired with foods that are too sweet or spicy for typical white varietals.
Pair with dishes containing:
- simple, sweet pork
- spicy, full-flavored poultry
- rich, full-flavored steak or lamb
Pair with the following cheeses:
- Monterey Jack
- Mozzarella (all types)
Try to avoid dishes containing:
- seafood, unless it’s a mild dish
- heavy cream sauces
