  • Meet St. Louisan Ron Rubin, owner of River Road Family Vineyards & Winery of Sonoma County. We love his wines, and think you will too!

“River Road Family Vineyards and Winery of Sonoma County is owned by Ron Rubin, who lives both [in St. Louis] and in California. Rubin bought the 37-year-old River Road winery, which is in the Green Valley sub-appellation of Russian River Valley, in 2011.″

“The River Road [Chardonnay] is a lighter wine that’s crisp, clean and quite refreshing. This a fruit-forward, tropical-tasting chardonnay that’s so easy to drink I almost went through half a bottle sipping it while I cooked dinner. The River Road, which has an alcohol level of 12.4 percent, is a good introductory chardonnay for those transitioning to drier wines. A real crowd-pleaser, this wine makes a lovely aperitif wine or a match for lighter foods, such as seafood or sole.”

River Road Chardonnay available at Straub’s Markets. Learn more about River Road’s local owner in this article by Gail Appleson of STL Today!

  • As a native St. Louisan raised in the grocery business, my passion is delivering honest, real and local food to our customers.

As a native St. Louisan (John Burroughs School Class of ’85) raised in the grocery business, my passion is delivering honest, real and local food to our customers. What is honest, real, local food? Honest, in that it’s made with fresh, natural ingredients. Real, in that it’s prepared in our kitchens by our chefs from tried and true recipes. Local, because much of what we sell comes from St. Louis companies whom I know personally and who share our standards of freshness and quality.

Thanks to all of you who have supported Straub’s for over 111 years now. I’ll see you in the stores!
