Over the last 105 years, Straub's Markets has had the honor of receiving many awards. Some have been for a specific department while others were for our store as a whole. Most notably, our two NASFT Retailer of the Year Awards in 2001 and 2006.

Although St. Louis is blessed with several 'home-grown' groceries, it's no surprise that the small, personal Straub's chain won this one. There's just something about seeing the same butcher, baker and checker every time you shop. And where else can you find Miss Hullings cakes?

To ensure that it is selling the freshest meat possible, each Straub's location has its own butcher shop, with the meat cut on site. With a staff of 25 butchers, Straub's has a collective total of 515 years of experience. Of these butchers, 22 have reached journeyman status, meaning they have apprenticed for two years with training from more-experienced butchers. {Read more}

But the ascetic lifestyle goes out the window every time we're in shouting distance of Straub's English Tea cookie brownies. Each cookie brownie (brownkie?) is the size of two postage stamps and possesses the chewy consistency of thick fudge.

Straub's covers all the bases. At your next office potluck, stop being known as "that weird guy who always brings a half-empty bag of Doritos" and start being known as the indispensible co-worker who provides the excellent pesto pasta salad and the darling wee mini-cheesecakes.
